Sound solution in similar games

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

Review:
...provide very well executed audio across the board. Everything from the changing sound of footsteps on different surfaces to the living, breathing natural world and the characterful voices of some of the less morally rigorous inhabitants of the villages and towns you will travel through are all clearly lovingly crafted. Particular praise here for the work done on Geralt’s small “team”, who all bring something individual and fresh to the table.

Review:

This game's sound design is brilliant. Most of the soundtracks are very memorable and beautiful; they help to immerse the player in the world of Ferelden and create a varied atmosphere for many of the different environments seen in the game. As mentioned many times before, the voice-acting of all characters (especially the player's companions) is exceptionally well done, but it is disappointing that there isn't much variety in the accents, while most are very English and only a few are a bit French-like.

Review:
The sound engine of the game works well most of the time and the background music fits the general mood of what is going on in the game (a lot of the old NWN tunes make a return). Dialogue voices are some of the best I’ve heard lately and nothing bad can be said of the sound effects heard during fights. I haven’t tried turning sound off but I can guarantee that the game wouldn’t be half as good without it.

Review:
Age of Conan has gone over the top to make sure they are not going to be comparable to the average MMORPG, but something special and it is something you will notice quickly.

Sound Effects are the best in any MMORPG period, the sounds you hear in jungles, forests, mountains, deserts or dungeons are all high quality and sound realistic. Insects and animals, each one enhances this harmony of sounds which washes over your speakers bringing you deeper into the experience called Age of Conan. The level of quality of the sound effects are so high, I would have to say very few games have come this close to pure perfection, something I hate saying about games but is justified in this case.

Review:

The sound is less hit or miss and more stable, as it’s helped along by a fitting, sweeping score and a lot of sound effects that serve to bolster combat immersion. Unfortunately, much of the voice acting is mediocre at best, which only makes the aforementioned cut-scenes even more painful. But there are a few decently voiced characters and when wandering about, the combination of good music and solid effects makes the experience an enjoyable one. There’s a definite balance issue as one aspect will often override the other, but this is just another technical fault that we have to accept. As I noted before, as we spend so much time out and about, most of the sound problems aren’t prominent; in fact, when they pop up, you’re not accustomed to the drawbacks. As a result, it can be a little jarring… But despite the iffy voices and screwy balance, the soundtrack and effects save the day.

Medieval II Total War

Review:
You literally will hear more with the X-Fi, as our game will happily use every available channel you give it. It means that in a full-scale battle it will sound better as more units, engines, weapons, arrows, screams, etc will be able to play and so further the realism. Pair it up with quality 7.1 surround speakers, and I guarantee you'll be ducking when flaming cannonballs fly over your head, and feel the ground shake when you manage to bring down a castle wall.
